RB Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi is now ready to be Dortmund’s newest addition. The 20-year-old goal poacher has set his sights on joining the Yellow  and Black this summer. The club made a formal approach in January and a summer transfer was mutually agreed, as well as a verbal agreement between both parties.

Adeyemi is a German-Nigerian of Nigerian paternity. He represents the German national team at senior level and he has made 3 appearances for his country, scoring once and assisting once. Adeyemi will be Dortmund’s replacement for Erling Haaland who has agreed a five-year deal with Premier League defending champions Manchester City. Adeyemi has scored 19 goals in 27 Austrian Bundesliga this season, as well as 4 goals from 10 UEFA Champions League appearances.

A well-versed goal scorer, Adeyemi is eager to start at Dortmund as soon as he signs and is unveiled.  Dortmund earlier signed Nico Schlotterbeck,22, on a five-year deal and they are on the lookout for another striker after Adeyemi deal is completed.  Adeyemi’s agent Thomas Solomon spoke on his client’s future and confirms Dortmund will be his destination. ”We’re now close to complete a deal with Borussia Dortmund. There will be no release clause included into his five-year deal.”

When asked if Manchester United was interested in the German international, Solomon answered in the affirmative. ”Yes. Manchester United wanted him- but we wanted BVB.” Manchester United were rejected by Adeyemi and his agent. Dortmund met them in January and verbal agreement was reached but not concrete enough. Dortmund will finalise the deal this week and begin the chase for another striker as soon as Adeyemi transfer chapter is closed.

A couple of Dortmund players are set to leave at the end of the season, Manuel Akanji inclusive. The Swiss defender is touted to join Manchester United if they fail to sign Pau Torres from Villarreal but plans could change with the arrival of Erik ten Hag as new boss at Old Trafford.  Dortmund are also weighing up a possible transfer for Brighton’s defender Marc Cucurella. Nothing concrete yet, still early days but talks will likely begin in June. Cucurella is very happy at Brighton, as he was crowned Brighton’s player of the season.
