The Ogun State command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has appointed Abiodun Alamutu as its new Commissioner of Police. The announcement, made on Saturday in Abeokuta, marked the beginning of Alamutu’s role as the 36th Commissioner of Police for the state, succeeding AIG Olanrewaju Oladimeji.
SP Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), shared details about Alamutu’s background in a statement. She noted that Alamutu joined the NPF on May 18, 1992, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Lagos State University. Alamutu underwent training in the Police Mobile Force, Anti-riot, and Tactical Maneuvering in Gwoza Maiduguri in 1993.
The new Commissioner of Police has attended numerous development courses as mandated by the NPF and is an active member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police in the U.S.
Odutola stated that Alamutu’s career with the NPF, spanning more than three decades, has seen him serve in most of the country’s states, including some of the most challenging terrains. Throughout his service, Alamutu has gained significant administrative and operational experience, earning him a reputation as a seasoned officer.
