Dr Alex Otti

According to recent news reports, the newly elected Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has pledged to adopt the Anambra model of reducing the cost of governance, which was initiated by former Governor Peter Obi. The Governor-elect has promised to establish a “lean government” and support the private sector to create job opportunities in the state.

Governor-elect Otti stated that his government would be prudent and cut its coat according to its cloth. He emphasized that the private sector should be supported to create jobs in the state, and his government would do whatever it takes to support them. He criticized the previous administration’s lavish spending on private jets and expensive wines and champagne, which he deemed unnecessary and irresponsible.

“We will not run a bloated government. We will not indulge in exorbitant travel expenses. We will not spend extravagantly on luxury items. Instead, we will run a lean government that can support the economy by cutting the cost of governance. We will focus on supporting the private sector to create jobs and improve the economy of the state,” he said.

Governor-elect Otti added that the Labour Party, which he represents, is known for its responsible and prudent approach to governance. He also praised former Governor Peter Obi for his reasonable and efficient management of resources, which involved him personally going to the market to price items to ensure that the government got maximum value for its money.

In conclusion, Governor-elect Alex Otti’s commitment to running a lean government and supporting the private sector to create jobs is a promising development for the people of Abia State. By adopting the Anambra model of reducing the cost of governance, he aims to improve the economy of the state while ensuring that public resources are used prudently and responsibly.
