During a TVC news interview on Friday, following the funeral of his immediate predecessor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, Aiyedatiwa made his political ambitions known.

It’s worth noting that Aiyedatiwa took the oath of office as the state’s governor on December 27, 2023, succeeding Akeredolu, who succumbed to a lengthy illness.

Akeredolu’s final rites were observed at his ancestral home in Owo, within the Owo council region of the state, on Friday, marked by sorrow.

In the wake of the funeral, Aiyedatiwa expressed his determination to enter the race for the governorship on November 16, underscoring the appeal of a full term in office.

He remarked, “I will be running. Being the incumbent governor, it’s important to note, no one aspires to serve as governor for merely one year. I’m seeking the full tenure that the constitution permits.

“Allow me the opportunity to contest for another term.”
