2023 Polls: Governor Umahi Wins Ebonyi South Senatorial Seat

The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi has been declared the senator-elect for Ebonyi South Senatorial District.

Umahi, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, scored a total of 28,378 votes to defeat his rivals, Linus Okorie of the Labour Party, who scored 25,496 votes and Eleje of All Progressives Grand Alliance who scored 11,398 votes.

The Independent National Electoral Commission Returning Officer, Augustine Ogugua Egwu announced the results at Afikpo North Local Government Area Headquarters, on Monday.

He declared that Mr Umahi, having scored the highest votes cast to defeat his opponent, hereby stands elected as the winner of the senatorial election.

Speaking on his victory, Umahi in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Strategy, Chooks Oko on Monday, hailed INEC for ensuring a credible election.

“I dedicate this victory to God and pledge to be a senator of all Ebonyi people,” he said.
