The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso has revealed that he was interested in working with Labour Party (LP) regarding the 2023 presidential election.

Kwankwaso revealed this while speaking at the Chatham House, in London on Tuesday.
The NNPP flagbearer said he and Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the LP, couldnβt reach a compromise on how to achieve an alliance.
Kwankwaso claimed they couldnβt reach a compromise because LP was at the peak of the media hype.
βOn Labour Party, I was initially interested in working with them, Kwankwaso said.
βBut at that time, they were at peak of the media hype and we couldnβt reach a compromise. Our party (NNPP) is a national party, and weβre commanding the support of the masses.β
βIf you have a party which is based on ethnicity and religion, that is the difference between the Labour party and our party, which is a national party, New Nigeria Peoples Party.β
It would be recalled that on several occasions in 2022, there were reports that Kwankwaso and the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi were going to form an alliance for the 2023 presidency.
However, after several back-and-forths, the negotiations between the two parties failed to yield a positive result.
