WAEC, the West African Examinations Council, has provided an explanation for the suspension of manual confirmation of results. According to a statement signed by Moyosola Adesina, the Ag. Head of Public Affairs for WAEC Nigeria, the move was necessary because the digital platform for confirming results was more efficient and timely. The announcement came after the body had suspended manual confirmation of WAEC results.

The statement noted that individuals and corporate organizations could use the digital confirmation platform to access WAEC results as long as they provided an authentic email address. The platform, known as the WAEC Digital Certificate Platform, allows candidates to access, download, and share their original WAEC certificates. It also enables institutions, organizations, agencies, and embassies to promptly and securely confirm the certificates of candidates.

The statement explained that certificates accessed and shared through the platform are authentic and sourced directly from the WAEC database. The platform was launched to ease the bottlenecks associated with the manual access and confirmation system. It eliminates the need for physical confirmation and stamping of certificates.

WAEC Nigeria encourages stakeholders and the general public to utilize the digital certificate platform. The organization also requests that institutions, organizations, agencies, and high commissions provide email addresses for the digital sharing, receiving, and verification of certificates. All concerned parties should update their portals to accommodate the sharing of the WAEC certificate.

The WAEC Digital Certificate Platform is accessible online through www.waec.org, and the mobile version can be downloaded from the Android and IOS app stores. WAEC is currently working on expanding the platform to include candidates from 1980, and updates will be provided as they become available.
