In a move to bolster his administration, President Bola Tinubu has presented the list of the second batch of ministerial nominees to the Senate for thorough screening and confirmation.
The chief of staff to the president, Femi Gbajabiamila, delivered the letter containing the names of the nominees to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday.
The Senate President received the envelope but has not yet disclosed the contents at the time of this report.
It can be recalled that on July 27, President Tinubu forwarded an initial list of 28 nominees to the Senate for the same purpose. Akpabio promptly presented the president’s request to the upper legislative chamber, leading to the commencement of the screening process.
The red chamber promptly began the screening of the first batch of ministerial nominees, including prominent figures like Nyesom Wike, former governor of Rivers; David Umahi, senate deputy majority leader, and Dele Alake, among others.
The second batch of ministerial nominees is eagerly anticipated, and it is expected that Akpabio will read the contents of the letter once the Senate reverts to plenary from the “committee of whole.”
