The Lagos State Government has announced that a traffic diversion plan will be implemented to facilitate the rehabilitation process on the Third Mainland Bridge. The rehabilitation process will occur between 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday, April 2, 2023. Dr. Fredric Oladeinde, the Commissioner for Transportation in the state, disclosed this information on Saturday.
He explained that the moves were in response to the notification received, indicating that the Lagos State Public Works Corporation is ready to repair the failed/peeled asphaltic sections of the bridge.
According to Oladeinde, the traffic diversion plan will entail directing vehicles from one lane to another at the failed asphaltic sections on the bridge. To minimize the possible inconvenience caused, the State’s Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be fully present on the ground to direct traffic.
Oladeinde emphasized that the measures taken are necessary to ensure the safety of motorists and commuters. He also urged motorists to exercise patience during the rehabilitation process, as it is aimed at providing a safe and quality road infrastructure for everyone.
