TenTik - Blaq Friday (Blaqbonez Diss)

Blaq Friday

Song by TenTik
Released: 26 July 2019

TenTik is one of those hungry new talents on the Nigerian rap scene defining the very essence of what a true hip hop artiste should aspire to be. His diss track BLAQ FRIDAY read as black friday is a case study in lyrical versatility.

The song, directed at none other than the self-acclaimed ‘Best Rapper in Africa’, Blaqbonez, is rich in unforgettable punch lines and beautiful rhymes. Tentik’s memorable metaphors are deftly delivered and he unleashes bone-chilling rap bars that are as unrelenting as they are musical.

TenTik claims that unlike his Chocolate City counterpart, he isn’t dependent on any label to promote him as he came into the game alone and doesn’t need permission to attack whoever he chooses to. He further mocks Blaqbonez with the line ‘best rapper in Africa pulling up in a Uber’, reminding him that success is evident by what you own not just mere words.

He’s a skeptical mind and he proves this in the most controversial words of the song; ‘Pastor says he’s talking to God, I say put am for speaker”. Skepticism goes side by side with intelligence and this is a point that the young rapper tries to reflect.

BLAQ FRIDAY is nothing short of a spark of genius from a fellow we ought to take seriously because we definitely haven’t heard the last of him.
