In Daura, Katsina State, President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Nigerians not to give in to vote-buying in the forthcoming Governorship and State of Assembly elections. Despite the money that may be distributed by politicians, he called on voters to follow their conscience and make the right choice.

After casting his vote at Ward A, Sarkin Yara Polling Unit, 003, President Buhari spoke with journalists about the new naira policy, which he believes will prevent unscrupulous individuals from using large amounts of cash to influence the election results. He assured the electorate that his regime had “diminished” the era of vote buying, and urged them to choose leaders based on their conscience.

In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, President Buhari praised the media for their role in empowering the people with information on their rights and providing a platform for voters to challenge leaders on their promises and records. He believes that this has helped to deepen democratic culture and awareness among Nigerians.

President Buhari expressed confidence that the outcomes of the elections will favor the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the country. He attributed this to the party’s thorough and detailed campaigns, which he believes has earned Nigerians’ trust.

He emphasized the importance of following the constitutional procedure for the entire electoral process, including choosing a party Chairman with experience to secure the electoral value and relevance of the party.

Buhari’s family members and aides also voted at the ward. He thanked Nigerians for their support and promised to continue working for them. He said, “Nigerians trust us because we mean what we say and say what we mean. We have maintained that trust. We told Nigerians that we will work for them, and we have done our best in education and health facilities, and Nigerians appreciate our efforts.”
