In a statement released on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, President Muhammadu Buhari congratulated Bola Tinubu, the President-elect, on his 71st birthday. The President praised Tinubu, calling him an “asset” and expressing his belief that he will lead an effective government when he assumes office.
The President cited Tinubu’s impressive political track record as the basis for his optimism. Buhari noted Tinubu’s involvement in party politics since the 90s, his election as Senator, and his successful stint as Governor of Lagos State. Buhari also highlighted Tinubu’s extensive experience in various leadership roles within the Executive and Legislative arms of government.
The President went on to commend Tinubu’s warm personality, friendliness, and generosity, stating that they have earned him a vast network of friends both at home and abroad. Buhari expressed his confidence that these relationships would provide the expertise necessary to guide the country’s economy and build on the investments made by past leaders, particularly in the areas of people-first development and infrastructure.
Buhari concluded by offering prayers for Tinubu’s health and well-being, as well as that of his family.
