Nigerian street artist, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, is set to appear in court today, Monday, April 3rd, 2023.
It was reported that portable was arrested by the Ogun State police command on Friday.
The controversial singer’s arrest came after he refused to honor police invitations in connection with a viral video showing him rough-handling some men of the Nigeria police.
Portable had been given a 72-hour ultimatum to report himself to the nearest police station following the incident but failed to do so.
He was subsequently arrested and detained at the State Police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
Confirming the arrest, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed that the Zazu crooner was arrested after he refused five invitations by the police.
Oyeyemi said Portable was currently in detention, awaiting trial.
It remains to be seen what charges Portable will face in court today. However, his arrest has sparked mixed reactions among Nigerians, with some expressing support for the singer, while others believe he should be held accountable for his actions.
