The Lagos State Police Command is actively investigating the recent threats made against the Igbo community in Lagos by Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, chairman of the Lagos State Parks Management Committee. The threats came ahead of the gubernatorial election in the state, causing concern among residents and political observers.

TalkGlitz recalls MC Oluomo’s statement in the viral video as he said:

“We have begged them. If they don’t want to vote for us, it is not a fight. Tell them, mama Chukwudi, if you don’t want to vote for us, sit down at home,”

Lagos Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, addressed the matter during an appearance on Arise Television’s Newsday program on Friday. The issue gained attention after MC Oluomo’s videos, in which he threatened Igbos in Lagos who would not support his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), went viral. He warned them to stay at home during the upcoming governorship election, adding that they have been “begged” and should stay out of the electoral process if they are unwilling to vote for the APC.

Owohunwa confirmed that the video clips are currently under review and that the threats are the focus of an ongoing investigation. He emphasized that no one is above the law in Nigeria, as the nation’s existence and political processes are regulated by the law. He assured that if the allegations are proven, appropriate criminal and legal proceedings will be initiated against the individuals responsible for the threats.

In his exact words:

“Yes, I can confirm that all the video clips are being reviewed. The statement, the assertions, the threats are subjects of ongoing investigation. And as we proceed, if facts are established against the provision of the law, nobody is above the law in this country. Our existence is regulated by law and we are bound together by law. The political process is regulated by law and nobody can be above that. So if these allegations are established, you can be sure that appropriate criminal and legal proceedings will be initiated against the specific actors.”
