Alarming Plot Against Atiku Abubakar Prompts PDP’s Call for Probe

In a shocking turn of events, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for an urgent investigation into the reported terrorist attack on its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in Yola, Adamawa State. The call was made following a statement issued by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, in Abuja.

According to Ologunagba, the PDP was deeply alarmed by the foiled terrorist attack on Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and other sensitive locations in Yola. He revealed that the arrested assailants had confessed to their involvement in the plot, leading the PDP to believe that the attack was a “sponsored attempt” on the life of their presidential candidate.

In response to the distressing incident, the PDP has called upon the Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, to utilize the information provided by the apprehended assailants and swiftly track down their sponsors. The party emphasized the importance of bringing these culprits to justice for the sake of national security, unity, and well-being.

Moreover, the PDP also appealed to the Federal Government to take decisive action and ensure that all those involved in the dastardly act, including their sponsors, face the full force of the law. The scale and nature of the attempted attack have underscored the significance of a thorough investigation into the matter.

As the situation remains critical, Ologunagba called on security agencies to bolster security measures around Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his family during this crucial time in Nigeria’s democratic process. The safety and protection of the presidential candidate are of utmost concern, and the PDP has expressed gratitude for the collaboration between the vigilant people of Yola and security agencies that thwarted the attack.

In the wake of the incident, Ologunagba urged the citizens of Nigeria to remain calm while the authorities carry out a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend all those responsible for the evil plot. The PDP is determined to ensure that justice is served and that such acts of terrorism are not allowed to threaten the nation’s stability and progress.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Adamawa State Police recently arrested four individuals suspected to be members of the notorious Boko Haram terrorist group. These suspects were allegedly planning an attack on Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s residence. Among the apprehended individuals, one 29-year-old man confessed to being a Boko Haram member hailing from Damboa in Borno State.

The suspect was apprehended at the gate of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s residence while attempting to carry out the attack on Sunday around 9 p.m. The arrested individuals have now been handed over to the military authorities for further investigation and legal action.

The incident has raised concerns about the nation’s security and the need to remain vigilant against potential threats. As the investigation progresses, Nigerians anxiously await the outcome, hoping for swift justice and a resolute commitment from the government to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.
