Following their triumphant Serie A title-winning campaign, Napoli is determined to retain their key asset and top scorer, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen. The club has spared no effort in ensuring the talented player remains at their side for the foreseeable future.
Osimhen’s exceptional performances throughout the season have caught the attention of several top European clubs. His contributions were pivotal in Napoli’s historic championship victory, their first in 33 years. In response to the growing interest, Napoli has reportedly presented Osimhen with a lucrative two-year contract extension proposal worth N6.5 billion (approximately €6.5 million) in addition to €1 million in bonuses.
According to sources, Skysports revealed on Monday that Napoli is currently engaged in advanced negotiations to extend Osimhen’s contract until 2027, accompanied by a considerable salary increase.
The 22-year-old striker, who has two years remaining on his current contract, had previously expressed his desire for an improved deal with a salary of €7 million. Napoli has responded to his request by presenting an offer that includes a release clause set at £170 million.
Rudi Garcia, Napoli’s newly appointed manager, has affirmed that Osimhen will be an integral part of the team for the upcoming season. During a recent interview, Garcia stated, “I have personally spoken to Osimhen, who is eager to remain here and continue his remarkable journey with Napoli.”
Garcia continued, “I can assure you that he is committed to staying. He finds joy in being a part of our club and aspires to achieve great feats with us.”
In the previous season, Osimhen showcased his immense talent by netting an impressive tally of 26 goals and providing five assists in just 32 league appearances for Napoli.
As Napoli strives to secure their star striker’s future, fans eagerly anticipate witnessing Osimhen’s exceptional abilities on the pitch once again in the upcoming season.
