According to reports, Premier League powerhouse Manchester United may be deliberating over authorizing a loan transfer for 21-year-old striker, Mason Greenwood, in the coming summer window.
Greenwood has been absent from the club’s roster since their 1-0 victory over West Ham on January 22, 2022. This followed his suspension by the club amidst allegations of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault.
While these charges were dismissed by the Greater Manchester Police in February, the club has persistently pursued its own internal investigation. Though the investigation is ongoing, a resolution regarding Greenwood’s future with the club appears to be imminent.
Sources from the Manchester Evening News indicate that the club is veering towards a loan agreement for the young England international who boasts one international cap to his name. Despite speculations, manager Erik ten Hag purportedly is not keen on consenting to a permanent transfer for Greenwood away from Old Trafford.
Despite not returning to United’s Carrington base for training, Greenwood has been observed working out with a private trainer.
Contracted until 2025, Greenwood’s name has been associated with clubs in Italy and Turkey. To date, he has made 129 appearances for the Red Devils, netting a total of 35 goals.
