Renowned Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, was decorated with the esteemed chieftaincy title of ‘Olori OmoOba’ during this year’s Ojude Oba festival in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
The late Chief Subomi Balogun, founder of the First City Merchant Bank (FCMB), last held this title. The prestigious title was conferred on KWAM 1 by the first class monarch, Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.
The ‘Olori OmoOba’ title became available after the passing of Balogun on May 18. As one of the most notable sons of Ijebuland, KWAM 1 has gained local and global recognition as a top Fuji star in Nigeria.
The Fuji musician has since been flooded with congratulatory messages on social media. His wife, Emmanuella, who was unable to attend the event due to Hajj, sent heartfelt congratulations through her Instagram account.
In her message, she wrote, “I felicitate with you, my darling husband @kingwasiuayindemarshal, on your conferment as the OLORI OMOOBA OF IJEBULAND… It is a day to celebrate your strength, courage, and contributions, which confirm you as one of the most ebullient princes in IJEBULAND.”
Indeed, this is a momentous occasion that acknowledges the significant contributions KWAM 1 has made to his community and the country at large.
