Indian Man Slices Pregnant Wife’s Belly Open

A father of five in India is in police custody after he sliced open the belly of his pregnant wife.

The man named Pannalal reportedly has five daughters and was eager to find out the gender of his unborn child, hence the sickening incident.

Pravin Singh Chauhan, a senior police official, revealed to the local news that the woman was left with serious injuries in the wake of her belly being sliced open.

According to the victim’s family, the suspect (who is being held in the police station in the Indian northern state of Uttar Pradesh) was desperate for son after his five daughters.

They say he carried out the bloody attack to find out if his wife was carrying a male child this time around.

NDTV reports that the woman, who was around seven months pregnant, is now in hospital, battling to stay alive.
