In a candid conversation with popular reality TV star Tacha on Cool FM, the talented rapper shed light on his perspective.

The highly anticipated 16th edition of the Headies, one of Nigeria’s most prestigious music award shows, recently unveiled its nominations list for this year. Blaqbonez found himself shortlisted in two coveted categories, namely ‘Best Rap Music’ and ‘Best Music Video’.

During the interview, Blaqbonez emphasized that his main concern revolves around the financial gains derived from his craft.

He elaborated on his viewpoint, saying, “For example, in one of the categories, Odumodublvck is nominated. One of us has to win, and it might not be either of us. But when your stuff is actually going gold or silver, we can all go gold or go silver. So, I do not need to beat this other guy to beat this other guy to (be at the top).”

The rising rap star further stated his indifference towards award nominations, noting that the opinions surrounding them are subjective and often lead to disagreements.

“So that is why I do not care for nominations. And nobody will ever agree. It is not like the whole world came together to say this is who deserves it. Everybody will argue, Blaqbonez said.

Blaqbonez firmly believes that the true measure of success lies in the global reach of his music, rather than accolades. “If my song is global, I do not care if you give me any award. What matters is the money that is coming in. And then you can sleep well, knowing that your music reaches places,” he confidently expressed.

Born Emeka Akumefule, Blaqbonez first gained widespread recognition following the release of his debut album in 2021. Since then, he has maintained an impressive momentum in the music industry, consistently delivering hit projects.

Notably, he recently collaborated with the renowned American rapper Ludacris on his latest single titled ‘Cinderella Girl’, which further solidified his standing as a versatile and influential artist.
