Nigerian Chef Hilda Bassey Effiong, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has made history by breaking the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

Baci accomplished this remarkable feat in the early hours of Monday at the prestigious Amore Gardens, located in the bustling city of Lekki, Lagos.

The highly anticipated cook-a-thon, officially known as the cook-athon, commenced on Thursday at precisely 4 pm, as the acclaimed restaurateur ignited her cooker, signaling the beginning of her ambitious endeavor.

Determined to surpass the existing record set by Lata Tondon, an Indian chef who holds the title since 2019 with a time of 87 hours and 45 minutes, Baci embarked on this extraordinary challenge.

As the hours ticked by, Baci continued to demonstrate her culinary prowess and endurance, captivating the attention of a captivated audience. On Monday, however, the Nigerian chef surpassed Tondon’s remarkable achievement, establishing a new benchmark for the longest cooking marathon performed by an individual.
