Headies 2018: Is YBNL On The Decline? Why Olamide, Others Didn't Win

Headies 2018 has come and gone. While Davido stole the headlines with his speech and teamwork, we should also be paying attention to how the YBNL boys didn’t win any award.

After the 2015 edition where Lil Kesh was denied the Next Rated Award and hell was let loose by Olamide, the label has been recording lesser wins at the award ceremony.

While Olamide and Adekunle Gold were nominated, Lil Kesh, Viktoh, Davolee and YBNL princess were not even nominated at all.

While everyone expected Olamide to win at least an award, it wasn’t even surprising that Wo! didn’t get an award last night.

Olamide

Olamide performed creditably well last year. While his Wobey album might have received less attention from fans, Wo! did wonders and should actually have won “The Street Hop Award” ahead of Small Doctor‘s Penalty.

This year alone, Olamide has released over 4 hit songs with the last one being his collaboration with Wizkid. Better luck next year, Olamide.

Important Point:- Just imagine, the Almighty Olamide won nothing, not even a single Award. This is pathetic.

Is This A Punishment Or He Didn’t Do Enough To Win?

Adekunle Gold

On the night when Simi won three Awards with her alternative-pop style, Adekunle Gold must be wondering what’s going wrong with his songs.

Truth is Adekunle Gold was nominated against heavyweights who had a better year than him. His last album was good but when compared to Wizkid’s Come Closer and Simi’s Simisola, he doesn’t rank anyway higher than them.

Adekunle Gold has to sit down and properly analyze his style of music. The Simi we have right now wasn’t the Simi we saw in Falz’s soldier. She has taken time to develop herself, evolved and became a big brand.

it’s time he drops some spicy.

Lil Kesh

One question Lil Kesh has to ask himself is Did he really deserve the Next Rated Award of 2015?

We saw how Reekado Banks has transformed himself to a big artiste over the years. He has paid more attention to his song recording process and properly understands the concept of times and season before he puts out any song.

But Lil Kesh has deteriorated, what we hear from Yagi is infused with a lot of profanity, women and alcohol. He goes into the studio, spits out some wack lyrics and goes back to the club.

Lil Kesh wasn’t even nominated. This is a testament of how bad he has been over the last few years.

He has gone from being a major contender of the Award to not getting a single Nomination within 2 years. Keshy is finished

Viktoh

Nothing to write about this guy. Does he still make music?

Sincerely, the YBNL crew have been really silent over the past few years now. There’s nothing spectacular about the brand, only Olamide is upholding the craft and both Davolee and Temmie Ovwasa have brought nothing extraordinary to the label.

It has been a bad year for the crew. Lil Kesh particularly has to go back to the drawing board and find out what endeared him to the fans.

He had been missing in the game and new artists like Mayorkun are taking over already.

There are still a lot of things going wrong with the crew,

But, What Really Is Going Wrong With The YBNL Boys?
