Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the governorship candidate for the Labour Party in Lagos State, has declared that his bid for the governorship position is not supported by any godfather. This statement comes after Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, the governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), claimed that Rhodes-Vivour was being backed by godfathers such as PDP chieftain Chief Bode George.

Jandor, as Adediran is popularly known, had accused Rhodes-Vivour of being endorsed by godfathers, including Chief Bode George. Jandor claimed that his refusal to recognise Bode George as a godfather in the PDP led to his endorsement of Rhodes-Vivour against Jandor’s candidature in the PDP.

Rhodes-Vivour, however, refuted these claims, stating that there is no godfather in the Labour Party and that he has no godfather. He also mentioned that he had no godfather in the PDP, only mentors and leaders.

Rhodes-Vivour went on to allege that there were rumours of embezzlement of funds meant for rallies and elections in the PDP. He also criticised Jandor’s claim that he would bring half of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to add to the PDP, saying that all of them had returned to the APC, questioning the value of his endorsement.

Rhodes-Vivour is a Nigerian architect, activist and politician who was the senatorial candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party in the Lagos West senatorial district during the 2019 Senate elections.
