France Bans Hydroxychloroquine As Treatment For COVID-19 Patients

The French Government banned the use of anti-malarial drug, hydroxychloroquine as treatment for COVID-19 patients on Wednesday.

The government made this decision after two French advisory bodies and the World Health Organization warned this week that the drug had been shown to be potentially dangerous in several studies.

The pressure of finding a cure to the sudden Coronavirus outbreak has moved doctors to prescribe the anti-malarial drug without proper and effective testing.

Although the US President Donald Trump has said he is taking this drug as a preventive measure against COVID-19, it has still proven to be harmful to the human health.

The French government then made a rule that the drug can only be used in clinical trials to test its efficacy against coronavirus.
