Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, the iyaloja-general of Lagos, has recently made changes to her Twitter profile, adopting the title ‘first daughter of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN)’ following the presidential inauguration of her father, Bola Tinubu. The momentous event took place on May 29 at the Eagle Square in Abuja, where Tinubu was sworn in as the president and Kashim Shettima as the vice-president of the federation.
In accordance with the customary practice, the inauguration of Tinubu automatically confers the titles of ‘first lady’ and ‘first family’ on his wife and immediate family. Embracing this new status, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, who is also the president’s daughter, updated her Twitter bio to reflect her role as the first daughter of Nigeria.
In addition to her new title, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo has also taken steps to launch a non-governmental organization known as the ‘Friends of Iyaloja Initiative’ in Abuja. This initiative aims to garner support for her father’s administration and promote various causes in line with its agenda. She took to Twitter to announce the launch, stating, “I have decided to use my little wealth of experience, connections, and human resources available to me to support my dad’s administration.”
The Friends of Iyaloja Initiative (FoI) will primarily focus on empowering the youth and women, providing assistance to individuals with special needs, and uplifting the vulnerable segments of society. The organization aims to implement programs that will positively impact the lives of Nigerians, especially those residing in grassroots communities.
To ensure effectiveness and a wide reach, FoI intends to collaborate with other reputable NGOs that have demonstrated excellence in key areas. Furthermore, partnerships with various governmental agencies, ministries, and parastatals will be sought, as they align with the organization’s operational cycle and its mission to serve Nigerians.
Folasade Tinubu-Ojo expressed her commitment to the cause on Twitter, stating, “I can boldly say again that our youths, women, and the vulnerable shall be attended to by this administration. I will fight for this cause, and I believe that God Almighty shall crown our efforts with unprecedented success.”
With her updated bio and the establishment of the Friends of Iyaloja Initiative, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo is poised to play an active role in her father’s administration, utilizing her experience, connections, and resources to support various sectors and uplift the lives of Nigerians across the country.
