Gida Hills hosts Olaolu9ja and Seyi Shakespear in this fantastic episode of Hip-hop in 5 mins as they take a dissection into indigenous rap in Nigeria. How the game started and how far it’s faring is really a journey of many ups and downs.

Seyi Shakespear believes there is still a whole lot to pull in the local scene. Comparing the legacy late Dagrin left and what’s obtainable in the industry right now, Olaolu9ja feels there is a vacuum that needs to be filled in the local scene.

Not subscribing to the fact the local rappers are getting wack, Olaolu9ja gives a kudos to Reminisce’s protege, Oladips. Shakespear is of the opinion that the Dagrin can still be brought back, in spite of the degradation of the genre at the moment.

Olamide and Lil Kesh got rubbed off in the list of credible indigenous rappers. This calls for attention that the local hip-hop style is dwindling away.

Indigenous rap isn’t what it used to be, it’s gradually losing its savor.
