Four New Roads Inaugurated in Abakpa Nike, Including Mike Ejeagha Road

Enugu State Govt Renames Road in Honor of Music Legend Mike Ejeagha  The Enugu State Government has officially inaugurated four newly constructed and renovated roads in Abakpa Nike, including the newly renamed Mike Ejeagha Road, which was previously known as Obinagu Road. This renaming honors the significant contributions of the legendary musician Mike Ejeagha to the state’s cultural heritage.

The announcement was made by the state governor, Peter Mbah, through a statement posted on Facebook on Monday, September 2.

Governor Mbah expressed his pleasure in visiting Mike Ejeagha and commissioning the newly completed roads, stating, “In recognition of Mike Ejeagha’s immense contributions to the cultural heritage of Enugu State, we have renamed Obinagu Road, leading to his residence, to Mike Ejeagha Road.”

He further emphasized the importance of honoring those who have shaped the state’s identity, stating, “Enugu is a state rich in history, talent, and culture. It is our duty to honour and celebrate those who have shaped our identity. Today, our government extends full support to Mike Ejeagha, taking responsibility for his upkeep as part of our commitment to preserving the legacies of our indigenous legends.”

The governor assured the residents of Abakpa and the entire Enugu State that this was just the beginning, highlighting that contracts have been awarded for the construction of 141 roads and 20 rural roads, including in Abakpa. He also mentioned the upcoming dualization of Penocks Junction on the Enugu-Onitsha Road, which will extend all the way to Opi-Nsukka, reinforcing the government’s commitment to improving the state’s infrastructure.
