Adedotun Clement, an Uber driver struggled with about five security operatives including the police and LSNC to resist arrest at the Lekki Toll Gate today.
This is one out of several arrests made at the Lekki Toll Gate where the EndSARS Memorial Protest is meant to hold peacefully.
According to Adedotun, he’s only an Uber driver and he’d left his car to join others in running away when they heard gunshots. He returned to look for his car only for him to find it moved from where he left it.
The police picked up Adedotun and tried to force him into the Black Maria but he resisted with full force asking what his crime is. He continued to plead with the officers who were persistent that he entered the van.
Adedotun was pepper-sprayed and tear-gassed and after so much scuffle, he was left alone.
Reacting to this, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu apologizes to the Adedotun and the public. He personally set free some of the arrested people who could identify themselves. “Those that cannot identify themselves will be held and investigated”, the Police chief said.
