Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Davido, has made history by breaking an African record on the US iTunes Albums Chart with his new album ‘Timeless’.
Davido, who dropped his fourth studio album ‘Timeless’ on March 31, 2023, has been a trailblazer for the Afrobeats genre for years.
The album features a star-studded lineup of guest appearances from renowned Nigerian artists such as Asake, Fave, The Cavemen, Morravey, and Logos Olori, as well as global sensations like Grammy-award-winning Beninese singer Angelique Kidjo, British rapper Skepta, South African music producer/DJ Musa Keys, Jamaican dancehall/reggae singer Dexta Daps, and South African rapper, Vocalist.
The 17-track album has also become the first and only Afrobeats album to debut all tracks in the top 100 of the United Kingdom Apple Music top songs chart.
Since its release, ‘Timeless’ has received widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike, with its unique blend of Afrobeats and international sounds.
Following the album’s release, the global streaming giant, Spotify, reported that Davido’s music is the most-streamed in the United Kingdom, Canada, France, and Nigeria. The achievement is a testament to the artist’s immense talent and the global appeal of Afrobeat music.
Davido, who has won multiple awards, including the BET Award for Best International Act in 2018 and 2020, has solidified his status as one of the biggest names in African music. His latest achievement has broken barriers for African music in the international market and set a new precedent for future generations of African artists.
