
During a recent interview with Jazzy’s World TV, Nigerian Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, also known as Davido, shared some insights about his family and how being the youngest of the lot had its perks. The musician revealed that while growing up, he didn’t get much attention from his family members due to being the youngest, but he enjoys being the last born.
Davido went on to recall how difficult it was to convince his family that he wanted to pursue a music career as they didn’t take him seriously initially. He mentioned that he had to put in a lot of effort to convince them that he had what it takes to make it big in the music industry.
The singer revealed that as his music began to gain popularity, his family members started paying attention and showing support. He said that he enjoys being the last born because his siblings are always there to support him when he gets into trouble.
Davido stated, “When I wanted to do music, imagine being the last born of the family. I’m like, yo I want to do music. I’m going to be a superstar one day. Imagine trying to influence everybody in a family [where] you are the last born.
Nobody took me seriously. You feel me? But as I got older, they looked and they saw that, yo he is really good in this. And then finally, they let me do what I want to do. But being the last born, I love it. If I had a challenge, my older siblings, they will be at my back for real.”
In summary, Davido revealed that growing up as the youngest in his family had its challenges, but he enjoyed it because he received unwavering support from his older siblings, who stood by him, even when others didn’t take him seriously. He is now a successful musician who has gained global recognition for his work in the music industry.
