Closures on CMD Road and Isheri-Olowora Access Road, Lagos

In a bid to enhance the ongoing Lagos-Ibadan Expressway project undertaken by the Federal Government, the Lagos State Government (LASG) has unveiled plans for a brief closure of the entrance into CMD Road and the Access Road to Isheri-Olowora on the Shagamu bound carriageway. The three-day closure is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.

The announcement was made via an official statement released on Tuesday through the LASG’s Instagram page. According to the statement, the closure is necessary to facilitate the application of the final wearing course by contractors, marking a significant step toward the completion of this vital infrastructure project.

The CMD entrance is slated for closure on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, with the laying of the final wearing course being the primary task. Similarly, the Access Road to Isheri-Olowora on the Shagamu bound carriageway, near the pedestrian bridge at Berger bus stop, will also undergo a three-day closure starting from Thursday, August 10, 2023. Preparatory works for this phase of the project are set to commence on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. The upcoming phase will involve the reconstruction of the remaining half of the outer lane of the carriageway.

To ensure smooth traffic flow during this construction period, the government has devised a comprehensive traffic management plan. Commencing from Thursday, August 10, 2023, motorists traveling from the expressway and intending to access CMD Road will have the following alternative routes:

Ojota Interchange Route: Motorists coming from Ojota Interchange will be directed to connect with CMD Road through the access road after the Federal Ministry of Works (FMW) weighbridge. This will allow them to continue their journeys with minimal disruption.

Dr. Nurudeen Olowopopo Route: Those on Dr. Nurudeen Olowopopo Avenue will be guided to connect with CMD Road through the route adjacent to Otedola Estate. This alternative route aims to ensure a seamless commute for these commuters.

Isheri-Olowora Bound Route: Motorists with the intention of exiting the expressway and heading toward Isheri-Olowora, via the access before the Pedestrian Bridge at Berger bus stop, are advised to take the next exit by New Garage. This exit will facilitate a connection to the Isheri-Olowora destination.

In light of these temporary adjustments, LASG emphasizes the importance of motorists cooperating with the deployed Traffic Management Personnel. Their guidance will be crucial in ensuring that commuters reach their desired destinations efficiently and safely.

As this significant infrastructure project progresses, the Lagos State Government remains committed to minimizing inconveniences while striving to provide residents and commuters with upgraded and modernized roadways. The planned temporary closures mark another step toward the overall enhancement of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and its vital role in facilitating transportation and economic growth in the region.
