Pope Francis of Vatican City approves Ordination of married men as priests

A proposal that appeals that married men should also be allowed ordination as priests in the Amazon region has been approved by Pope Francis, sovereign of Vatican City.

According  to reports, the proposal must be approved by Pope Francis before it could stand.

The Amazon region includes  areas such as some parts of Peru, Suriname, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, Columbia, French Guiana.

The proposal tagged viri probati  refers to older Catholic men who have stable families, respected in their communities, and are already deacons in their respective churches.

This  recent development would be a big  change in the church’s  traditions where only unmarried men were appointed as priests.
