Veteran actress Bukky Wright has earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) 2025, marking a major milestone in her much-celebrated return to Nollywood after years away from the spotlight.
The actress, who was once a dominant face in Nigerian cinema, made the announcement via her Instagram page, where she expressed heartfelt gratitude to fans, colleagues, and the production team behind her nominated film.
“We’re back! My heart is so full. After some time away from the screen, stepping back into storytelling feels like rediscovering a piece of myself I truly missed,” she wrote.
“To be nominated as Best Supporting Actress for this film is beyond humbling. To everyone who believed in me, supported me, and welcomed me back with so much love — thank you from the depths of my heart.”
Wright also took a moment to appreciate Nora Awolowo, director of the AMAA-nominated film Red Circle, for casting her in the role that has brought her renewed acclaim.
“Congratulations, @noraawolowo. You deserve your flowers for the effort and hard work you put into it! Thank you for choosing me,” she added.
She ended her message with a powerful note of encouragement:
