Bill Gates has donated $1 million to the Nigerian government to fight COVID-19. The donation was made by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Bill Gates donated this $1 million (N383,240,000) in support of the Nigerian government in addressing the challenges of COVID-19 pandemic.
The disclosure was made by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) resident representative in Nigeria, Mohamed Yahya. The money was paid by a UN finance support platform tagged “One UN COVID-19 Response Basket Fund. The fund is managed by the UNDP. Yahya on Tuesday, July 21, said the donation was made by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Also said:
“Through the Basket Fund, the UN aims to ensure policy coherence, programmatic alignment, harmonisation, and coordination of support to the Government of Nigeria during the time of crisis.
