Burna Boy has been bashed by a Nigerian lady who believes that the artist is undeserving of his BET Award win for Best International Act.
The 2020 edition of the BET Awards took place yesterday, June 28, 2020, via a virtual ceremony over COVID-19 concerns, and among the winners were Nigeria’s Wizkid (who won the BET HER Award) and Burna Boy.
Beyonce, Drake, Chris Brown, Megan Thee Stallion, DJ Khaled, and John Legend were among the night’s biggest winners as Zimbabwe’s Sha Sha also clinched an award.
Burna’s award makes him the first Nigerian artist to win the Best International Act for the second consecutive year, a big deal for him as he continues to on the path to global stardom.
As it happens, not everyone is happy for the ‘African Giant’ as a lady took to Twitter to voice her disapproval, claiming that the singer was given the award “so peace can reign.”
The lady, whose account is @iam_mystiquee, wrote:
He doesn’t deserve this sha. Idc who the nominees are, he is totally undeserving. Again BET gave that drug addict the award so peace can reign and he won’t start fighting like a mad man that he is.”
