AY Makun Declares End to Feud with Basketmouth, Resigns to Let It Rest
End of the Road: AY Makun Accepts Perpetual Feud with Basketmouth

AY Makun, the renowned comedian and filmmaker, has declared that he is no longer interested in resolving the long-standing feud between himself and fellow comedian, Basketmouth. The feud, which has lasted for a staggering 17 years, originally stemmed from an alleged unpaid debt of N30,000 that AY claimed Basketmouth owed him.

However, Basketmouth vehemently denied owing any money to AY and emphasized that they were never close friends to begin with. This revelation has added fuel to the fire of their ongoing dispute.

In a recent interview conducted by Teju Babyface, AY expressed his frustration, stating that he had been actively trying to reconcile with Basketmouth over the years but has now decided to let go of any hope for a resolution. He even went as far as declaring that he is willing to carry the burden of their rift to his grave.

When asked about the involvement of their senior colleagues in the comedy industry, AY confirmed that they were well aware of the feud. At some point, these respected figures advised him to ease up on his efforts to reconcile, as Basketmouth was proving to be uncooperative. They urged him to understand that friendship cannot be forced.

AY shared his perspective, saying, “The bros, (senior colleagues in the comedy industry) knew, and at some point in time, they had to ask me to slow down. They were like: ‘You’re doing too much. You are putting in too much to make this thing work. Friendship is not by force.'”

AY further revealed his genuine belief that reconciliation was possible, as demonstrated in one of his recent stand-up comedy performances. During the routine, he incorporated a segment addressing their dispute, saying, “My guy. How’s my guy? This is my guy. If you see this guy, tell him he’s my guy.” Unfortunately, this attempt only reignited the public controversy, as Basketmouth responded with a clear denial of their friendship, causing the situation to escalate once again.

In light of these events, AY has now decided to relinquish his pursuit of reconciliation entirely. He has resolved to be content with the idea of never sitting down with Basketmouth or any of the other comedians involved to mend their relationships. AY firmly stated, “As I’m here now as AY, if I have to go to my grave without sitting with any of these guys to say ‘hello,’ ‘hi,’ I will be happy.”

The persistent feud between AY Makun and Basketmouth has undoubtedly captured the attention of their fans and the comedy industry as a whole. Their unwillingness to reconcile not only reflects a personal rift but also speaks to the complexities and challenges of maintaining relationships in the public eye. As this conflict continues to unfold, fans and industry insiders alike will watch with bated breath, awaiting any signs of a potential resolution in the future.
