President-elect Tinubu Sets Ambitious Goals for Nigeria’s Future at Inauguration Dinner

President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in an address delivered on Sunday night, expressed his determination to live up to the expectations of Nigerians and fulfill his promises as the incoming President. Speaking at the Inauguration Dinner/Gala Night organized by the Presidential Transition Council (PTC) at the prestigious Old Banquet Hall in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Tinubu emphasized his commitment to steering Nigeria back onto the path of growth, despite the challenges of poverty and policy inconsistency.

Acknowledging the multitude of issues confronting the nation, including corruption and policy inconsistencies, Tinubu declared that his administration would not resort to these as excuses for nonperformance. He unequivocally stated that failure would not be tolerated and pledged to operate with a zero-tolerance policy for underachievement.

Addressing the distinguished audience, Tinubu expressed gratitude to the Heads of State from various countries present at the event, emphasizing the importance of Nigeria’s democracy and the lessons it holds for Africa and the world at large. He highlighted the resilience, determination, courage, and unity in diversity that characterize the Nigerian people, noting that these qualities have enabled the country to overcome numerous challenges. Tinubu also humorously assured his predecessor, President Muhammadu Buhari, that he would still seek his counsel and support, regardless of his retirement plans.

President Buhari, in his farewell speech, expressed appreciation to the dignitaries in attendance, commending Nigeria’s successful electoral process and the power it had restored to the Nigerian electorate. He congratulated fellow Nigerians for realizing the significance of their votes, adding that he looked forward to retreating to his base to tend to his livestock, which he jokingly remarked were easier to manage than his fellow compatriots.

The event witnessed the unveiling of a book titled “Renewed Hope, Greater Together” by the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, alongside Asiwaju Tinubu, incoming First Lady Senator Remi Tinubu, Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima, and his wife.

The colorful event was graced by several world leaders, including the Presidents of South Africa, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Burundi, Liberia, Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Central African Republic, and Gabon. The Prime Minister of Morocco and the Vice President of Venezuela were also among the distinguished guests who came to celebrate this significant occasion.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s resolute commitment to delivering on his promises and his acknowledgment of the challenges ahead have generated considerable anticipation among Nigerians. With his inauguration just around the corner, the nation waits to see how the new administration will tackle the pressing issues of corruption, poverty, and policy inconsistencies, and steer Nigeria toward a brighter future.
