In a recent revelation, Amaju Pinnick, the former president of the Nigeria Football Federation and current FIFA Executive Member, voiced his displeasure at popular singer, Davido. The “Unavailable” hitmaker allegedly failed to make an appearance at an event despite receiving a payment of $94,600.
Speaking at the 19th edition of Warri Again, Pinnick detailed the lengths the organizers went to accommodate Davido, including chartering a private jet for him at a cost of $18,000. However, the singer was notably absent.
In light of Davido’s absence, the event organizers had to swiftly secure an alternative performance, turning to the artiste, Shallipopi. “After making the payment and arranging his travel, we were left in a lurch. We had to find a replacement, and Shallipopi stepped up,” Pinnick explained.
Pinnick also took a moment to reflect on the true stars of the Nigerian entertainment scene. “Many claim to be big, but let’s not forget our own. Burna Boy, with his Itsekiri roots, is arguably the biggest artiste in Nigeria today. And in the realms of acting and comedy, who stands taller than RMD or Ali Baba?”
He concluded with a nod to the rich talent pool in Warri, stating, “We have a galaxy of stars in Warri. No one outshines our city.”
