15-year-old student sets new record in UTME with 99 in one subject

Fifteen-year-old Master Lotanna Azuokeke, a student of Bishop Otubelu Juniorate located in Trans Ekulu, Enugu, has set a new record in the just-concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), scoring an impressive 337, with 99 marks in a single subject. The statement was made public by Dr Chiwuike Uba, Media Adviser to the Bishop of the Diocese of Nike (Anglican Communion), who is also the founder of the school.

Azuokeke, who hails from Ọba in Idemmili South LGA of Anambra State, obtained 88 marks in chemistry, 86 in physics, and 64 in the English Language. This exceptional performance by the young lad has broken the previous record of Chidera Obi, who scored 329 marks to emerge overall best, five years ago.

According to Dr Chiwuike Uba, the school was established on October 6, 2008, with the aim of providing quality education to students. The school started with just 24 students and has grown significantly, with a total of 411 students now enrolled.

In addition to Azuokeke’s outstanding UTME results, the school had a 100 percent success rate in the last Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), with three students earning 11As each. Dr Uba expressed his pride in the school’s achievements, stating that the JAMB results were exceptional, while the WASSCE and NECO results were also quite commendable.

It was disclosed that Azuokeke had applied to study electrical/electronic engineering at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). The news of Azuokeke’s record-breaking performance has brought great pride to the school and its staff, as they continue to strive towards providing quality education and producing top-performing students.
