Wizkid and Tems are about to make history by becoming the first artists from Africa to perform at the 2022 AMAs.
The organisers of the event made the announcement on the social media page, revealing that the “Essence” singers would be gracing the stage at the award show slated for November 21, 2022.

The duo has also received nominations for the award show.
While Big Wiz received two nominations, Tems received a record-breaking four nominations.
This would be the first time any African artist would be performing at the AMAs and it is coming two years after Burna Boy made history as the first African act to win an award at the Grammy Awards.
The American Music Awards is an annual awards ceremony that was established in 1973. It is one of the four major annual American music awards shows, along with the Billboard Music Awards, Grammy Awards, and country-specific musical genres like the Country Music Association Awards and Academy of Country Music Awards.
