Abuja, Nigeria – Vice President Yemi Osinbajo reaffirmed the Federal Government’s dedication to youth development during his speech at the 50th-anniversary celebration of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). The event took place yesterday in Abuja and was attended by esteemed government officials, including Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare, and Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed.

Representing Vice President Osinbajo, Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu, emphasized the significance of empowering young people as a crucial catalyst for national progress. He acknowledged the NYSC’s unwavering commitment to evolving policies and programs that position it as a leading institution for development in the country.

“It is gratifying to note that the NYSC has continued to renew and make itself indispensable by evolving policies and programs that have clearly identified it as a foremost institution for development in the country,” Minister Aliyu expressed. He further added, “On our part, we will continue to accord priority to youth development through policies and programs that will empower them not only for economic survival but also for future leadership roles in our dear country.”

Minister Sunday Dare, who oversees the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, commended the NYSC for its substantial contributions to Nigeria’s socio-economic advancement. The NYSC has played a pivotal role in fostering unity and national integration by mobilizing graduates from diverse backgrounds to serve their nation.

In the midst of the anniversary celebrations, the event provided an opportunity to reflect on the NYSC’s accomplishments over the past 50 years.
