Two Eiye Cult Suspects Arrested in Lagos, Preventing Potential Clash
Plot to Avenge Eiye Cult Member’s Death Thwarted by Lagos Police

In a significant breakthrough, the Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two individuals believed to be members of the notorious Eiye confraternity. The suspects, whose identities have been withheld for legal purposes, were reportedly planning a retaliatory attack following the death of one of their comrades.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the arrests during a press briefing held on Wednesday in Lagos. According to Hundeyin, the arrests were made just in time to thwart the suspects’ intentions of perpetrating violence against members of their rival group, the Aiye Confraternity.

Law enforcement officials from the Olosan Police Division, stationed at Mushin Bus Stop, successfully apprehended the two suspects. In their possession, the police discovered a locally made pistol, serving as evidence of their alleged criminal intentions.

During questioning, the apprehended individuals confessed to being affiliated with the Eiye confraternity. Additionally, they revealed that the firearm had been acquired in Mushin with the explicit purpose of avenging the death of their fellow gang member, who had been killed by Aiye members in the Abattoir area of Agege.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin emphasized that the arrest of the suspects prevented the occurrence of a potentially violent clash between the two rival factions. He warned that the Lagos State Police Command maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards cult-related activities, reiterating the commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents.

In a stern message to those considering engaging in violent acts, Hundeyin stated that individuals with such inclinations should either relocate from Lagos or face the full force of the law. The police spokesperson emphasized the determination of the command to maintain peace and order, while urging citizens to report any suspicious activities or threats to public safety promptly.

The successful operation by the Lagos State Police Command serves as a testament to their dedication in curbing cult-related violence and protecting the lives of the residents. Efforts are ongoing to gather additional intelligence and identify other potential threats, as law enforcement agencies continue to work tirelessly to maintain peace and security in the state.
