“Omode Meta” by Tony Tetuila is the throwback song of the week. The song which released around 1999 was meant to be a Remedies diss after Tony Tetuila had exited the group of himself, Eddy Remedy and Eedris Abdulkareem.
Tony Tetuila featured 2face Idibia, Blackface and rap group, Ruff, Rugged & Raw. This is one of the biggest songs to have evolved in the early year of hip-hop history in Nigeria.
Blackface threw some sublime shades at Eedris who then was regarded as the king of rap in Nigeria. The hook of the song, “Omode Meta” describes three artists – Eedris, Eddy and Tony who were performing as group. One decided to sing, the other chose rap while he (Tony) chose to dance. The singer and rapper now connived to drop the dancer (Tony).
This was how Tony Tetuila evolved as a solo artist adding more hit tracks like “Morning Time”, “To Bami Ke” in the same year.
