Nollywood star, Zubby Michael, has rebutted the assertion by his peer, Timini Egbuson, regarding who holds the title of Africa’s leading actor.
In the inaugural episode of the Prime Video original series, ‘Ebuka Turns Up Africa,’ the two actors found themselves at odds during a spirited exchange over the claim to the continent’s top acting accolade.
As Egbuson distributed presents among the show’s celebrities, he made a bold statement about his status as the premier actor from Africa, a comment that provoked a response from Michael.
Egbuson declared, “Coming from Paris, where we had engagements in the festivals, it’s clear I’m the top actor in Africa…With a career spanning 13 years, accolades under my belt, and comprehensive experience, I’m convinced I stand unrivaled.”
Michael retorted, “Stop the jokes, he must be jesting. This isn’t about arrogance, but I hold the title as Africa’s leading actor.”
He elaborated, “Here’s why I surpass Timini, step beyond Shagamu and Timini becomes unrecognized, and I say this without disparagement. Timini’s renown might not extend past Lekki, whereas I’ve dominated the YouTube sphere, the DVD domain, and now, the cinema screens.”
Interrupting, Timini contested, “You’re pigeonholed into the same role in every film, brother. How do you claim to surpass me?”
Michael responded, “Let me clarify, not out of vanity
