The tear gas was released by personnel from the nearby Mopol 39 Base, situated just across the street from the school.
According to a reliable source within the school who wished to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals, the incident unfolded during the morning hours when students were already settled in their respective classrooms. Suddenly, tear gas, emitted during the riot police officers’ routine morning exercises, infiltrated the school building, causing immediate panic and distress among the students.
Despite attempts to gather comments from the school instructors, none were willing to provide a statement regarding the distressing situation. However, one concerned father, identified only as Gideon, spoke exclusively to our reporter and revealed that he had been urgently instructed to visit the Osun State University Teaching Hospital in Osogbo. His daughter, allegedly one of the victims affected by the tear gas exposure, required medical attention.
