Bolt service partners with 40,000+ restaurants to intensify competition in India’s quick-commerce market.
The Bengaluru-based company, which recently went public, revealed it has partnered with over 40,000 restaurants to power the Bolt service. These include global giants such as KFC, McDonald’s, and Starbucks, alongside popular local eateries. Bolt’s model focuses on delivering fresh food items that require minimal preparation within a 2-kilometer radius of customers, ensuring meals reach them in just 10 minutes.
Speaking on the expansion, Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy’s Food Marketplace, said Bolt is “changing the way customers are experiencing food.” He added, “For the first time, people are getting food from their favourite restaurants to their doorstep, as fresh as possible.”
Nationwide Rollout
Initially launched in metropolitan cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, and Pune, Bolt has now reached smaller urban centers such as Jaipur, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad, as well as Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities including Roorkee, Guntur, and Shillong.
Swiggy clarified that its delivery partners are not made aware of whether an order falls under the Bolt service, and no incentives are offered for faster deliveries. Instead, the service relies on efficient restaurant partnerships and the short delivery radius to ensure speed without compromising safety.
Market Competition
The expansion comes as Swiggy seeks to reclaim market share lost to its chief competitor, Zomato, in recent years. The quick-commerce sector in India has witnessed explosive growth, with demand increasing by over 100% in the past year. Major players like Zomato’s Blinkit, Swiggy’s own Instamart, Zepto, and Tata-owned BigBasket are racing to meet consumer expectations for rapid delivery.
