The Supreme Court has taken a break to deliberate on a request made by Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara States. The states asked the court to prevent the Federal Government from proceeding with its plan to phase out the old naira notes by February 10.

A five-judge panel, led by Justice John Okoro, has informed that they will soon deliver their decision regarding a motion for interim injunction submitted by the three states. The motion was argued this morning by their lawyer, Abdulhakeem Mustapha (SAN).

Mustapha argued that it was in the best interest of the country and to prevent a potential chaos for the court to grant the requested order. He stated that the order should be granted temporarily, until the hearing of a motion on notice submitted by the three state governments in a suit they filed on February 3.
