Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has made five changes for the visit of Manchester City. The big drop-out is Ibrahima Konate, who misses out with a hamstring problem.

Konate started Wednesday night’s game at Rangers, but he fell to a muscle injury and James Milner will now serve as the back-up. Joe Gomez has shifted across to play next to Virgil van Dijk.

Andy Robertson starts the first match after the defeat by Napoli on September 7, just further upfield than Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara patrolling the midfield.

Leading in the Champions League with the quickest hat-trick ever, Mohamed Salah has made an excellent contribution off the bench for Liverpool against Rangers. Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota are also back on form and starting for Liverpool.

It means Darwin Nunez drops to the bench alongside Jordan Henderson and Curtis Jones, while Trent Alexander-Arnold is a surprise selection as part of the subs given his ankle injury sustained at Arsenal last Sunday was said to keep him sidelined for two weeks.

We’ve got Alisson from Liverpool. Milner, Gomez, Van Dijk and Robertson. Fabinho, Thiago, Elliott and Salah, Firmino and Jota.

Subs: Kelleher, Henderson, Jones, Tsimikas, Nunez, Carvalho, Bajcetic, Phillips, Alexander-Arnold.
