Breaking News: Eguavoen Resigns as Nigeria Boss
Austin Eguavoen

Head coach Austin Eguavoen has stepped down as Super Eagles handler. The 56-year-old has sent a letter to the NFF about his decision. Eguavoen has been the head coach of the Nigeria national team since December when Gernot Rohr was sacked.

Eguavoen led the Super Eagles to a fantastic group stage at the AFCON 2021,winning all their games in the group only to lose out to Tunisia in the round of 16. After a disappointing outing during the World Cup qualifying stage that saw Nigeria fail to take a ticket to Qatar,it is a little surprising that Eguavoen has left his role.

Former Chile boss Jose Pesiero was rumored to take the job earlier this year but the NFF had not made a decision. There have been other candidates tipped to take the job. Former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp and former OnsOranje manager Frank De Boer are all shortlisted for the vacancy.
