American actress, Carole Cook died on the 11th of January, days before her 99th birthday, January 14th.

Her death was confirmed by her husband Tom Troupe, who said she passed away of heart failure in Beverly Hills.

Carole, whose successful career spanned over five decades, was best known for starring in her roles in Sixteen Candles and The Lucy Show.

She was one of Hollywood icon Lucille Ball’s best friends, a favorite of famed comedienne Lucille Ball who notched up a stellar resume including numerous turns on Broadway and decades-spanning appearances in popular films

She worked on The Lucy Show between 1963 and 1968, appearing in 18 episodes as Lucy Carmichael’s friend Thelma Green.

Carole Cook, the actress who used a career boost from Lucille Ball to build a career that included three turns on Broadway and roles in Sixteen Candles and The Incredible Mr. Limpet, is dead.

She received a number of awards throughout her career, including the Theatre Ovation Award for Lifetime Career Achievement in 2002. She was honored alongside her husband as the pair became the first husband and wife duo to be given the accolade.
